Ben Affleck and Batman

Yesterday, my nerd sensors (read: Facebook) picked up a message (read: Saw something in my timeline): There was an official photo of Ben Affleck as Batman roaming around the Interwebs courtesy of Zack Snyder himself.

WHAT??!?!??!??!!?!!?!?!?!??!?!!!

Now I am not a huge Batman fan, I am just enough of one to keep my nerd street cred. Neither am I a Ben Affleck fan, but in the Venn diagram of being somewhat interested in both these things is the cross section where I am insanely excited to see Ben Affleck as Batman.

So I click on the link titled, “First Look at Ben Affleck as Batman in ‘Batman vs. Superman.’  Ooohhhh! Let’s see it, let’s see it!!

Um. Kay.

Now I will give you that this is a great photo, and it is most certainly Batman, in a new suit, standing in front of the Batmoblie, but where in this photo am I supposed to see Ben Affleck.  Maybe I am not nerdy enough, but this does not work for me.  I want to see Ben, a screen shot of him on set in character being Batman, not a strange silhouette of someone who may or may not be Ben Affleck in a suit.

I send a text to Andrew: “I can’t even tell whether or not that is Ben Affleck.”

Andrew back to me: “Does it have to be Ben Affleck?”

Ah, and there is the proof that I am not nerdy enough to appreciate this photo.

A few hours later, I pulled the article back up and notice the actual verbiage on Snyder’s tweet:

BenBat3

There is no mention of Ben Affleck.  At all.  Ben’s name was added later by CNN and every other agency that picked up the story.  So props to Zack Snyder for not misleading me, I still have faith in this somewhat ridiculous sounding movie.  Please give us a Ben-tastic photo soon?  Please?  That reaffirms my nerdiness, right?

What is the Blog of Awesome?

The Blog of Awesome is the brain child of Emily Whalen (Me), refined and made entirely more awesome by Andrew Moser (that guy I’m dating).  Prior to the Blog of Awesome, Andrew and I spent our time passing the weird and interesting things we found on the Interwebs or in our lives through email or the occasional Facebook and Twitter post (or you know, actual live conversation).  Now we are taking our snarky comments, silly interpretations, awesome discoveries, and utter randomness to the whole of the Internet.

The Blog of Awesome has no theme.  It is a collection of things that Andrew and I randomly find and think should be shared with the world.  At any moment we could write long rants or pieces of fiction, post trailers of films we want to see, or an article on the origin of a phrase we love.  It could be funny or sad, it could be a meme or prose, it could be personal or global.  There will be no rhyme or reason, no rhythm or rules.  Some days will have multiple posts, some will have none.  Andrew will post, I will post, and, occasionally, we will write together.  Most importantly I cannot guarantee you will not get a he said/she said review of every movie we see (and we see a lot of movies!).

So enjoy the minds of the most random and possibly insane couple in the world.  Comment. Share. Like. Tweet.
